Cosmelan Treatment happens in 2 steps. In the 1st step, your doctor cleans your face thoroughly. We use an exfoliation machine before applying the Cosmelan Peel. Cosmelan peel is applied all over the face & neck in a mask-like manner. The Cosmelan mask is a unique mix of Azelaic acid, Kojic acid, Ascorbic acid, Phytic acid, Arbutin & Titanium oxide. The mask has to be left on for about 8-12 hours, and your doctor will recommend you do the treatments in the evening so that you can leave the mask on overnight. Wash the mask off with a gentle cleanser. In step 2, once the peeling starts(in 48 hours), you have to use the homecare given to you, which is usually Cosmelan 2(a topical anti-spot cream), HydraVital Factor K(a moisturiser), sunscreen & a gentle cleanser. Always remember that homecare constitutes 80% of this treatment’s result and has to be used religiously.

What Results Can Be Expected From Cosmelan Depigmentation?
In 99% of the cases, the appearance of the blemishes improves by 95%.
ONE WEEK after starting the Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment, a noticeable significant improvement in the skin is observed. The reduced blemish is detected, and the appearance of new luminous and rejuvenated skin is present.
At the end of the Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment, the blemishes start to disappear so that, although the patient may be able to “locate” the place where the spot was, the truth is that the pigmentation will have disappeared. Nobody will be able to see it just by looking at it.

What Precautions Must Be Undertaken Before Proceeding With Cosmelan?
Stop all applications, especially glycolic acid, two weeks before treatment.
Avoid any aesthetic or laser procedures seven days before treatment with Cosmelan.
Refrain from waxing or other hair removal methods for seven days before treatment.
Use sunscreen regularly before your cosmelan peel appointment.
The treatment must be continued during the entire prescribed time.
It is completely forbidden to combine the Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment with other Depigmentation treatments, as the appearance of undesired effects cannot be guaranteed.
Treatment control visits are recommended eight days after, 15 days later, and a follow-up visit every month after that.

What Can Be Expected After a Cosmelan Treatment Mask?
The first and second day
The skin may turn red during the first two days of the treatment. If the skin is susceptible, the patient may experience an itching feeling. Slight burning and skin tightening are also absolutely regular, especially during the first 24 to 48 hours after starting the treatment. To relieve these problems, it is advisable to apply the creams advised.
Redness of the Skin
The reddening on the face after applying the Cosmelan mask treatment is similar to the effects of day-long exposure to the sun in the snow without protection.
Flaking may occur on all skin types between the second and third day. In this case, it is advisable to apply the cream advised, repeating this every two hours on the day when the flaking is most intense until it improves. Do not pull on the flakes. Do not rub or scratch the skin. Do not use exfoliants, scrubs or peels. Avoid steam baths, saunas and swimming in a hot spring for two weeks following treatment. It is advisable to wait until the initial flaking period is over before applying makeup again.
One week onwards
After one week, the skin appears healthy and luminous, and the marks begin to fade.
What Can Be Expected After the Homecare Application of Cosmelan Treatment?
Cosmelan Maintenance
Cream The second phase of the Cosmelan treatment consists of a home maintenance cream Cosmelan to secure the Depigmentation by the association of agents such as Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Vitamin C, Arbutin & Titanium Oxide. We have added a physical agent to block the sun and guarantee that the UV rays do not keep on aggravating unwanted damage to the skin, though the sunscreen advised has to be used three times a day.
What Are the Post-treatment Instructions to Be Followed?
• There will be visible peeling for seven days post-procedure. While peeling occurs, the skin may have some normal colour changes, which will resolve soon.
• Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you know you will get incidental sun exposure(driving to and from work, walking from your car to the house etc.), we recommend physical avoidance of the sun in all treated areas with a protective hat and a full spectrum sunblock.
• Do not rub/scrub/pick on your skin.
• Avoid applying makeup while peeling continues.
• You must avoid sweating, exercising, hot baths, hot showers, sauna, and swimming until the peeling continues.
• After four weeks of application, you must continue applying Cosmelan 2 for the next 6-8 months in a maintenance form. Stop using it five days before any other procedure and reapply three days after any other procedures.
• The result after Cosmelan 1 is only 20% of the final result.80% of the result comes from the home application of Cosmelan 2, so it is a MUST.
• Do not get any other procedures(such as peels, facials, or lasers) done on the treated area for a minimum of four weeks.
• WE RECOMMEND YOU VISIT THE CLINIC 4 WEEKS POST-TREATMENT AND EVERY MONTH POST FOR A FOLLOW-UP.
Day 1: After 12 hours, wash with plenty of water. Start applying moisturiser. You will feel a burning sensation, and the skin will seem tight. Both of these are normal during the initial phase of the treatment.
Day 2: Apply moisturiser and then follow it up with sunscreen.
Day 3-30: Start applying Cosmelan 2 twice daily (once in the morning and once at night before bed). Apply Cosmelan in two thin layers, wait 10 minutes for it to get absorbed, then apply moisturiser and again wait till it gets dry and then apply sunscreen. Follow this application for the next four weeks. After four weeks, visit us, as you may need spot peel on some areas. Discontinue the use of Cosmelan 2 for three days before coming to us. 2-6 Months Apply Cosmelan 2 once a day in the evening. Apply moisturiser 10 minutes after Cosmelan 2 Apply sunscreen daily in the morning.
