What Is The Hyper
Pigmentation Treatment?

Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition in which the skin seems darker than usual, giving the appearance of a sick, uneven, and ageing face. Age spots, melasma, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are all examples of hyperpigmentation. The overproduction of a pigment called Melanin in the body is the primary cause of hyper skin pigmentation problems.

Chemical peels and resurfacing laser treatments can remove hyperpigmentation in an average of 4-8 sessions with minimum pain and resulting in healthy, even skin tone.

What to expect during consult?

Hyperpigmentation can be of different types with different causes.

With pigmentation, the nature of the skin also varies.

It is crucial to analyse the nature of the skin and pigmentation from the first step to attain a clear vision of the line of treatment.

A detailed history is taken, and your doctor will also examine your skin (you must remove makeup if any) before outlining your treatment options. All your queries are solved at this time.

We set accurate expectations for the result with pre and post-pictures.

We understand your busy work schedule and plan treatment accordingly so you can manage both together efficiently.

Treatment Protocol at Metamorphosis

We begin the hyperpigmentation treatment with a thorough assessment of the hyperpigmented skin and use a moisturiser to ensure that our clients do not experience any pain or discomfort during the procedure. We can treat pigmentation in different non-invasive ways depending on our patient’s concerns. The peel to be used is decided after understanding the patient’s history and confirming the diagnosis of hyperpigmentation.

Peeling treatment: with proper cleansing of the skin, the peel is applied, kept on for 5-8 min under continuous observation, and then neutralised with ice. A special peeling agent is used for deeper layer exfoliation, which must be kept for 6-8 hours. Visible peeling happens for 4-5 days. Treatment is done only under doctor supervision with proper pre and post Instructions given to the patient.

Laser treatment: We have a specialised US-FDA-approved laser that can help pigmentation called Q switched ND Yag laser, Picosure, Fractional laser, IPL etc. Laser treatment helps in the breakage of melanin. The pigment absorbs the laser energy and gets fragmented within the skin tissue. There is no downtime, and you can resume work immediately after the procedure. Laser light is deeply penetrated and treats a deeper layer than chemical peels.

When Will the Results Start Appearing?

They mainly appear after the first treatment but will be fully evident between 4-8 weeks.

How Does Laser Treat Pigmentation?

By exposing the pigmented lesion to short pulses of laser light, the melanin(concentrated area of the pigment) tends to shatter.

Are the Results Permanent?

The pigmented lesions which were removed will not reappear after the treatments. The treatment does not prevent new hyperpigmentation due to UV rays; we will provide consultation on the same.

Does Pigmentation Removal Hurt?

There is very minimal discomfort reported, but the results are worthwhile. We don’t offer numbing agents as they interfere with the treatment, but we provide a cold compress if needed before.
