What Is The Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment?
The Fractional co2 laser treatment is a laser rejuvenation technology that offers several benefits to the skin. The co2 Fraction laser treatment addresses skin concerns such as Acne scars, Stretch marks, Benign superficial skin growths, anti-ageing scars, sun spots, and skin resurfacing.
The carbon dioxide fractional laser resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method (columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to help in healing) to help reduce age spots. The technique directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin, precisely removing skin layer by layer with minimal heat damage.
The treatment targets the outer layer of your skin while simultaneously heating the lower layers of the dermis, which promotes collagen production. These new collagen fibres will further produce a new, smoother skin texture & firmer to the touch. Recovery may take up to two weeks.
Co2 fractional laser resurfacing is safe when used according to prudent parameters. We only use FDA-approved laser beams perfectly suitable for all skin types.
On the day of the procedure, we will apply topical anaesthesia to the treated area. It is to reduce pain and makes you comfortable during the procedure. If a large area of skin is treated like your stomach or calves, we may suggest an additional pain killer.
Next, the skin is cleansed to remove excess oil, dirt and bacteria. The laser is moved slowly around the designated skin area with the ideal settings for your indication controlled by your doctor. Finally, we will dress the treatment area in wraps to help protect the skin at the end of the procedure.

What Exactly Does CO2 Fractional Laser Do?
Co2 Fractional laser targets the chromophore, water in the skin cells, vaporising it and thereby removing the layers of skin. It reveals new firmer skin in no time. Fine lines and wrinkles are minimised, and acne scars appear much smoother. The laser also treats fine to moderately deep wrinkles, photodamaged skin, scarring, skin tone, texture and laxity.
How Is the Procedure Done?
Post Topical anaesthesia is applied, and the laser shots are delivered onto the skin via a fractionated handpiece. Post Procedure cream is used to minimise any discomfort.
How Long Does a CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment Take?
The exact time depends on the area treated. Typically it takes 15-45 minutes. This time frame does not include an additional 30 mins of topical numbing to be applied before treatment.
Does the CO2 Fractional Treatment Hurt?
Local anesthesia will be applied before the treatment to minimise any discomfort. After the treatment, the skin will feel tight and stretchy but not painful.

How Much Downtime Is Associated With CO2 Fractional?
Downtime is associated with this treatment, and a one-week healing period is minimally required. Your skin will scab and peel 2 to 3 days post-treatment and be pink for 1 to 2 weeks. The exact healing varies from person to person.
How Long Do Results Last?
The results can be seen for many years. Results can be prolonged with diligent use of sunscreen, avoiding sun exposure with the correct skin care maintenance at home.
Who Is Not a Candidate for Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment?
The treatment may not be safe for those with specific underlying medical treatments like bleeding disorders or herpetic sores.
Those with a history of difficulty healing or scarring are not suitable candidates. A pregnant or breastfeeding patient is not an ideal candidate as well.
What Are the Post-treatment Instructions?
1. During recovery, the skin may be highly red and scabbed over, and slight peeling might occur. You can use ice packs to help reduce swelling. It is normal to have swelling after this treatment, and the ice application will reduce it in the first 24 to 48 hrs
2. While you don’t need to be home during the recovery process, it would be better to avoid your gym as sweat may increase your risk of infection. You have to follow sun protection extensively at this time as your skin is more sensitive than ever before.
3. Starting 24 hrs after treatment, you will need to clean the treated area 2 to 3 times a day. It would be better to use mild cleansers instead of soaps. We will recommend which one to use depending on your skin type.
4. You would also need to apply petroleum jelly, or moisturiser suggested to you to prevent the formation of scabs.
5. You may feel itchy for 2 to 3 days post-procedure. After 4 to 6 days, your skin will become dry and start to peel
6. you must use sunscreen that protects against both UVB & UVA. We will suggest you sunscreen as per your skin type. It will have to be applied three times a day.
7. You will be asked to limit your time in the sun, especially between 10 am and 3 pm. You can wear a broad-rimmed hat or tie a scarf to protect your skin from UV rays.
8. It is also essential to keep your new skin moisturised at all times. 9. Once the healing process is complete, you can wear makeup. Oil-free /Mineral makeup is recommended after this procedure of laser skin resurfacing.
